A final meter reading is a must
Finally, the moving date is here. All of your possessions are safely loaded into the moving truck, and it is time for you to turn off the lights. Not so fast! Before vacating your home, check the meter one last time. Either make a picture with your phone or take a note of the reading so as to have a written proof. You can also arrange for the service providers to come to your home, and do the reading themselves. This way, you will have a proof, and no one will be able to trick you into paying bills that are not yours to pay.
Do a double check of your new home
Even though you made sure to transfer utilities when moving it does not mean that everything will be in perfect working order. Thus, once you move into your new home, check all of your fixtures. Make sure that the faucets are working, that your internet connection is stable, and that there is electricity all around the house.
